This iconic Ford GT40 Replica comes to life directly from the hands of a single man, and it is unreal to watch it form from nothing!

Benjamin Workshop's custom tribute to the legendary American race car Ford GT40 is a work of art. The vehicle was built from the ground up, which took over 4000 hours! Like the original Ford, it is powered by a potent V8 engine.

This custom car, with its sleek and race-inspired design, is a true testament to the creator's hard work and dedication, as well as a nod to the sports car that inspires enthusiasts worldwide. As you will see, this custom GT40 promises thrilling performance, paying homage to the late 1960s 24 Hours of Le Mans dominance.

First of all, Benjamin Workshop started building this car in 2017. Initially, he did a detailed sketch on paper, and then the car was then designed piece by piece through software. From this, the construction started from the fundamental part of the custom car, the vehicle frame, that is, the chassis (this is not the first time we see a custom chassis).

The author of the video has individually cut and welded each piece of this element, investing hours and effort. Just think that it took more than 1500 hours to build the chassis alone or 62 whole days. After that, the author finally moved on to the mounting of the tires and the suspensions, and only at this point, it was possible to begin to temporarily mount part of the body.

After making sure that the doors opened well and that everything worked fine in the cabin, the manufacturer finished the roof and painted all the pieces. However, we are still in 2019, and we are not even halfway there. We know that many things made this car special, and when the author of the video was able to briefly mount the whole body of the car, he realized he made something special too. This, for a single manufacturer, is a magnificent achievement.

From here on, we move on to the finishing of the doors, the connections of the various tanks, and the manufacture of smaller parts, such as the base of the gear lever or the cap of the petrol tank. All of which we take for granted but which actually take many hours to build from scratch. One thing that wasn’t built from scratch is the engine, and this is its moment. For this custom GT40, Benjamin Workshop used a V8 engine, able to offer exciting performance to the vehicle.

Once the exhaust pipes are also connected and installed, the car has been set in motion, and the emotion on the manufacturer’s face is definitely visible right now. In fact, at this point, the car begins to seem real, and all the commitment and perseverance of the author begin to give serious results. A ventilation system is then installed to keep the engine cool.

After this, we move on to the interior details, such as the assembly of the dashboard with the various panels. Then the rear and front headlights are installed. The car opens its eyes, and we are in late 2020. At this point, all the internal components are painted and assume a new and threatening appearance. The custom GT40 is now almost ready, but the body is still in the embryonic phase.

So Benjamin smoothens it, fixes it, paints it, and makes it shiny, ready to be kissed by the sun. A fantastic bright yellow will give her that roaring and fast sports car look. Then the steering wheel is mounted, seats are installed, and all floor mats are placed.

Once all the body finishes have been fine-tuned and all the screws tightened, this car must be equipped with the appropriate adhesives. Benjamin opts for a sporty, race-inspired look. So we find the characteristic side and front stripes with the iconic GT40 writing. At this point, you just have to start and enjoy the fruit of four years of effort because it’s 2021, and the car is finally ready.

As you can see at the beginning of the video, from the scale model of this car, the Ford GT40 was designed for the track. Specifically, it was designed to run the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which won from '66 to '69. The car, just like Benjamin’s, was equipped with a very powerful V8 engine, able to offer excellent performance and, at the same time, entertain the driver.

In the design, the custom car we talked about is very much inspired by the GT40, indeed it is practically identical, so it would be very difficult for someone to think that this is a car built entirely by hand. Benjamin, on the side of the car, put a round and white sticker, ready to be filled with a number. In particular, we remember one that carried the number 40.

Whether you like this car or not, it is certainly a titanic undertaking, carried out with great effort and therefore honor. It is not even easy to decide to build a personal version of what is perhaps the American sports car par excellence.
