There is one positive aspect of getting a fresh, white snowfall blanketing the city over and over. It gives an appearance that everything is clean and bright, but we all know what lurks beneath.

Every community has its areas that are less visibly pleasing, whether it's an industrial park or a rail yard, or the area near a landfill that never looks or smells pretty.

A new study released by LawnStarter took the largest 200 cities in the United States and ranked them based on the following four categories:

Of the 200 largest American cities, none from Illinois are in the top 10 dirtiest, but there are 3 from California that is:

While you'll find Milwaukee on the list at #68, the first city in Illinois to show up in the top 200 was Aurora, Illinois at #77.

St. Louis, MO showed up as the #92 dirtiest city, proving again why the STL is way worse than our beloved Chicago which ranked #96 dirtiest city.

Naperville, Illinois made the list at #110 and according to this study is a dirtier city than Boston (#114), Syracuse (#112), and Oakland, California (#115).

Madison, Wisconsin ranked #124 and Des Moines, IA at #149
